Rahel Vonmoos is an independent dance maker, performer, 

teacher and Body-Mind Centering (BMC) practitioner.


She created work for theatre and gallery settings, has performed with many choreographers in UK and Europe, and taught dance on the international scene since 1999.


Vonmoos’ own work has been performed in the UK, Europe and the US. Since 2008 she is involved in film making and creating/editing her own video projections  and sound scores for live performance. 


Rahel is the recipient of a Compass Commission 2015 (in partnership with GDA and Trinity Laban) to create her new work to find a place, which was performed at GDA in Jan 16.

She exhibited her work slow / down at the Hayward Gallery, London, Oct 14- Jan15.


Her work has been performed in Spring Loaded Festival 2012 at The Place Theatre and her collaboration A Light Conversation with American dancer/choreographer Wally Cardona has toured in Europe and the US, between 2008 - 11, and was seen in Dance Umbrella 2009.


Rahel’s research/documentary film but - at least was screened in various locations in UK and Switzerland, over the period 2012-16.


As performer Rahel has danced, amongst others, for choreographers Rosemary Butcher, Charles Linehan, Philippe Gehmacher, Liz Roche, Carol Brown, Ricochet Dance Productions, Philippe Saire, Paula Lansley and Iztok Kovac (film on improvisation for the production Codes for Cobra).


Vonmoos is an experienced teacher on the international dance scene, leading professional classes in release technique, improvisation, and Body-Mind Centering (BMC) and performance practice. She has facilitated several research projects and has taught extensively since 1999, for international dance agencies/festivals/schools, amongst others, for Independent Dance (ID), Greenwich Dance Agency (GDA), Trinity Laban, The Place, London Contemporary Dance School, the Tanzhaus Zurich, Schweizerische Ballettberufsschule, TsEKh Summer School (Moskau), as well as many companies such as DV8, The Cholmondeleys/Featherstonehaughs, Random, Siobhan Davies Dance Company, Charles Linehan Dance Company, George Piper Dances (Ballet Boyz), Protein, Akram Khan, Daniel Larrieu (Paris), Company Molteni (Zurich).


As a certified Body-Mind Centering practitioner (since 1998), Rahel applies this work in a class setting as well as in private sessions (small groups or one to one), in a creative as well as therapeutic way.


Vonmoos was a recipient of a Kulturpreis, achievement in arts award, from the Canton of Graubuenden (CH) - residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts (Paris) - , and a Werkjahresbeitrag, an art prize, of the city of Zurich (CH).


Rahel received her dance education at the Ballet Professional School in Zurich and at London Contemparary Dance School (one year special). She intensively studied Aikido at the Ikeda Dojo in Zurich and certified as Body-Mind Centering practitioner with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in Massachusetts, US, 1998. Rahel has an MA of Arts: The Body in Performance, 2011 (Dr. Martin Hargreaves at Trinity Laban).


Rahel Vonmoos is Swiss / British, a mother of two, and lives in London.
